LATIHAN AMALI FOTOGRAFI : APERTURE PRIORITY IN A VERY LOUSY WEATHER

Last weekend, the sky was really cloudy with dark clouds hanging in the sky. But they say (the pros, that is), its the best time to go out and take pictures, so I packed all my stuff and headed out to Nyon, 23 kms from Geneva. At 6.30 am.

It was a teeth chattering windy morning. And cold. Very cold. In short, its just not comfortable for a sun loving Malaysian to be out there, that freezing morning.  Fingers and cheek felt numb. Even the Swiss stayed indoors. Looking around, I realized that I was the only one there.

So I guess this is what pros had to endure in their quest to capture that magical moments. And I am sure my uncomfortable condition that morning was but a fraction of what they had experience.

These are what I came up with that cold morning.

HIKING 101: MOUNT PELERIN

As you can see, I am having problems with the new WYSWYG blog template to adjust the pics to be tidy and neat. So please forgive the unjustified arrangement of the pictures. Bear with me until I figure out how to do this properly.

Anyway, Mount Pelerin is located at the other end of Lake Geneva from Geneva., in Vevey,  where the Nestle HQ is.(I have Malaysian friends who works there). There is a funicular train servicing the Vevey- Mount Pelerin line. Buy tickets at the ticketing machine at the station. CHF 14 for adults and children are FOC if I am not mistaken. The funicular route cut across the Lavaux Vineyards  which I wrote about not too many posts ago.

The hike itself was quite interesting, where we walked with the aim to circle the mountain top, through  electrified cattle farms and thick forest, climbing steep hills until finally  we lost our bearings (Cant find the trail markers), so we decided to double back to the funicular station.

Hiking time was 3 hours.

Trail marker "untuk pejalan kaki sahaja"

We were definitely not in Perlis la. Another trail marker.

The forest.

Tall, dark and straight up!

View? What view?

HIKING 101 : NENDAZ, SWITZERLAND

Nendaz is a winter resort. Never been here before. Definitely will go again this coming winter months just to see what it looks like with snows blanketing it.
Welcome to Nendaz!
There are kms after kms of hiking trails as indicated in the sign post.
Trail markers.
Stone fences.

A typical Swiss house.
Seriously, this is the first time I stumbled upon atap zinc. Common to us back in Malaysia, not so here. Its thicker.
A NOT so typical Swiss house, with a wall that could transform to a balcony.
Biri-biri
Kuda kenit, we are but a common sight for him.
Local school kids along the hiking path.
I like this!
The Bernese Alps mountain range

PARENTING 101 : A CHEESY CONVERSATION WITH MY DAUGHTER

This morning, I sent my youngest 6 year old daughter to her school. Since its still early, I walked her to the play ground, when suddenly she stopped, held my hands, looked straight, deep into my eyes and said;.

Arissa : Abah, whats the capital of USA
Akula : Washington.
Arissa: Whats the capital of Malaysia?
Akula : Kuala Lumpur.
Arissa: Hmmm.........am I a capital of something?

Without hesitation I answered,

Akula : Of course, you are the CAPITAL of my heart.........

I know, I know its sounds really cheesy......................right? But thats the only thought I could come up with.

.......and I really meant it..
