CANON EOS 5D MARK II

Its been a long while since I buy a DSLR.

The Nikon D70S I have right now was acquired way back in 2005 when I was in Vancouver, where at that time not too many people were into DSLR. Now, almost everyone I know have at the very least, an entry level DSLR camera since it becomes more affordable for the mases to own one.

Over the years, I was tempted several times to upgrade the Nikon D70S with the introduction of several new DSLRs in the market. Nikon's D90, Canons 50D and 7D were very, very hard to resist, but I told myself, if I want to upgrade I should get the best one available and not to do it just for the sake of upgrading.

Anyway, after months of saving every loose change, depriving myself of buying BD Movies, DVDs, CD's and traveling only to those places where it doesn't cost any extra expenses (sightseeing in towns and parks), I saved enough to buy myself a Mark II. With extra lens, I might add.

The best thing was, the prices was further cut down for a total of about CHF 800.00. Further research and a lot of walkabout window shopping here in Geneva, revealed that all Canon DSLRs prices was brought down. I dont know the reason, but the rumour mills were flooded with the news that a new Canon DSLR will be unveiled in the near future.

The situation is also the same with Nikon DLSRs. For instance, the D90 (body only) is offered at CHF 998.00 with a CHF 200.00 cashback, meaning the current price is a mere CHF 778.00. A bargain compared to the tag price of CHF 1,343.00 early this year.

Crazy summer sales.

But, I have no complains at all. Less money to spend and any extras will enabled me to look for additional lenses.

I dont want write anything on the Mark II since the it has been covered by a lot of photography experts on the Internet. I am, after all, not a technical expert on a DSLR's anatomy.

Suffice to say, I am very happy with the Mark II and are still trying out and testing its extensive features and abilities.

As for my old Nikon D70s, I will still keep it since dah banyak jasa capturing those beautiful moments and memories of my children growing up from their toddler days.
